March Monthly Challenge- Interesting Perspectives

This was another tough one for me because I'm still trying to master basic things like focus, white balance, and exposure. Composition and creativity often take a (very far) back seat- there's just so much to think about! Plus, my favorite subject is a 2 year old who has had more than enough of mommy's pictures and absolutely will not pose for me (notice that he is being held in both of these pictures). Sometimes I'm lucky and everything just falls into place, other times I end up with a bunch of pictures that are lacking something... I had this "interesting perspectives" idea in the back of my head all month and tried out lots of things that failed horribly and some things that sort-of worked... Even though I'm not completely satisfied with what I came up with, I'm thankful that this challenge pushed my creativity and got me thinking more deliberately about my perspective. February Monthly Challenge- Food

I am so excited to be involved in a monthly photography challenge with such a talented group of photographers. This month's challenge was food. I prefer to photograph people and was feeling stuck until, one Sunday morning, my husband decided to teach our son how to make Ebelskiver (traditional Danish pancakes). It's a recipe that he learned to make from his grandma and mom. Without this challenge, I probably wouldn't have taken pictures of this, but I'm so glad that I did. Jackson thinks daddy is the absolute coolest and I think that's apparent in these pictures.
